Replying to Marie-Hélène Gaudreau (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, when I listen to some of my colleagues, I get the impression that there are only a few members of Parliament, including those from the Bloc Québécois, who are concerned about the environment and who want to keep the safeguards. Right now, it seems like no one is listening to anyone else. Obviously, that is because we are talking about the environment. No one cares, since they do not believe in climate change. We are definitely not looking at the same science. My colleagues should be ashamed because when we go back home, our children and grandchildren ask us what tomorrow holds for them. My colleagues think only about the next election or their region’s economy. For heaven’s sake, let us think about the future.”

The Liberals have actually used the environmental lens to try to punish and destroy the rural way of life. They have zero clue. They have no understanding of what it means and what it is like to be from rural Canada and to have to suffer under the policies that they have put in place. That needs to end. The government needs to quit using the environment as a way to destroy and punish the main industries and sectors that drive and fuel the Canadian economy.Positioning Reasoning · 8 wordsYes, we need to have proper environmental protections. Claims · 8 wordsWe have the strongest regime in the world. Reasoning · 23 wordsIf the rest of the world adopted Canadian environmental standards, all the issues the Bloc talks about would start to slowly go away.
