Replying to Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal)
“Madam Speaker, I want to pick up on the point of short-term and long-term relief. The short-term relief is in Bill C-38, providing the tax break. In the long term, looking at the major projects and recent announcements about Pacific link and LNG phase two, we see that there are projects that can help us into the future. I am wondering if my colleague can provide his thoughts on why it is important for us to have a balance of both short-term and long-term thinking when it comes to the issue of our natural resources.”

Madam Speaker, Procedure · 5 wordsthe point is well taken.Procedure Reasoning · 96 wordsThe government has a responsibility, a duty and an obligation to Canadians to think beyond election cycles. Short-sightedness is not what is going to make what the Canadian future requires. We have to look long-term. We need to make these investments for the benefit of Canadians and our prosperity. At the same time, we can provide relief in transition to that resilience and reliability that is being invested in these major projects. It is important that Canadians work together with all provinces and all parties to look at the long term and invest for our future.Partly on point
