“Madam Speaker, it is great to be in this House and great to hear the member’s speech. Although we often disagree on numerous matters, we can agree on one thing, which is that suspending and extending the suspension on the fuel excise tax is an important measure the government put forward. We heard from an economist yesterday at the finance committee who said that prices on gas and diesel could normalize from the Strait of Hormuz opening again, as early as 14 weeks from now. Although the member opposite has often talked about fiscal prudence in this House, I wonder if he is advocating to extend the relief for Canadians well beyond prices normalizing and coming down.”
