Replying to Steeve Lavoie (Liberal)
“Madam Speaker, I quite liked my colleague’s anecdote about his messy bedroom. I think there was a bit of disorder going on in his thoughts this evening, because he talked about everything but Bill C-39. He even talked about another bill that had nothing to do with Bill C-39 when he was talking about streamlining and results. Those things are found in Bill C-39. My question for my colleague is, will he commit to reading the bill in detail and returning to the House to speak to Bill C-39? I think he will find answers to many of his questions.”

Madam Speaker, Positioning · 30 wordsI think the member was maybe not listening too carefully. He maybe listened to the anecdote at the beginning and then prepared his question before hearing the rest of it.Positioning Claims · 26 wordsI do acknowledge that the stated aspirations in this bill are, in many cases, aligned with things we have been calling for for a long time. Reasoning · 6 wordsThe question will be the results. Promise · 35 wordsI look forward to the study that is going to happen on this bill at committee and the constructive work the Conservatives will do to put forward amendments to try to deliver on that promise. Claims · 32 wordsHowever, when I see the government emphasize that we are going to have more offices, councils and more processes, that again seems to be that push toward feverish activity instead of results.1Partly on point
