Replying to Elizabeth May (Green)
“Mr. Speaker, my hon. colleague does us a great favour. I would ask the member if she can remember the rush that everybody was in, in June 2025, that Bill C-5 had to be passed before we rose for the summer. We went from second reading to royal assent between a Monday and a Friday. There was no time to study it, and no time to think. It was just important to get it passed, because we were in such a hurry, and exactly as she said, not one single project was listed under Bill C-5 until about two weeks ago when the Liberals decided, in cabinet, to say that what they are now calling the Pacific link is the first project. After more than a year, after the rush to pass the bill we could not study, they have now put forward a pipeline, which they could not even accurately describe in the Canada Gazette. Does the member have any thoughts on this?”
