Replying to Sébastien Lemire (Bloc Québécois)
“Madam Speaker, waachiyaah. I want to thank my colleague and riding neighbour, more commonly known as the Minister of Indigenous Services, for her intervention. First nations have waited a very long time for this bill. I would even go so far as to say that we literally lost a year waiting during this Parliament. At the time, there was broad consensus around Bill C-61, co-developed with first nations. The committee was very thorough in its work and proposed a number of amendments, all in collaboration with groups representing first nations. My question for the minister is simple: What has changed between Bill C-61 and Bill C-37, which is before us today, that accounts for the year we have just lost?”

Madam Speaker, Claims · 50 wordsI took the time to study things and speak with the communities. One very important aspect of this bill is the government’s historic investment to ensure that the communities benefiting from this bill have all the essentials, including funds to invest in the work involved in lifting boil water advisories.Partly on point
