“Mr. Speaker, the Conservative Party is underestimating the true value of having an arm’s-length corporation. This is not new. In Alberta, there is the Alberta Investment Corporation. I believe there are corporations that deal with gaming, lotteries and cannabis. These are all multi-billion-dollar corporations. In fact, in Canada, I suspect we will find there are corporations that deal with procurement. Developing a corporation for the procurement of military supplies and equipment would ensure there would be accountability, transparency and a high sense of independence. Why is it the Conservative Party seems to be opposed to Crown corporations, even if they are at arm’s length from government?”
