Replying to Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal)
“Mr. Speaker, I am a little confused about the motivation of the Conservative Party, along with the Bloc, and why they would oppose corporations. In fact, Crown corporations have a huge history of success, whether it is municipal, provincial or federal. It is a way to ensure more transparency and more accountability, and to have something be at arm’s length of government. These are all positive things we have witnessed for generations, at both the provincial and the national level, yet we have the Conservatives and the Bloc now saying that they do not support it. I am wondering if my colleague could provide her thoughts not only on how it would make it more efficient, but on the fact that there is a high level of accountability and transparency with Crown corporations.”
