“Mr. Speaker, before I get to my question, I want to highlight that today is the difficult anniversary of the death of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, who was killed back in 2014. Our thoughts are with his family today. The member opposite talked about a couple of things. He asked about the Canadian Coast Guard and the capabilities it brings to the Department of National Defence. One of those capabilities is the ability to actually share security information with our allies, which was not the case when it was under Fisheries and Oceans. It also brings training opportunities to the Canadian Armed Forces. The member also mentioned a question with respect to New Brunswick. I have visited CFB Gagetown, and anyone who had a chance to go visit this summer would have seen the incredible investments happening on bases and wings across Canada. The member mentioned that successive governments had difficulty in terms of getting defence procurement right. Would he not agree that perhaps we need to look at a different way of doing what we do to get those capabilities to our men and women in uniform?”
