Replying to Jeremy Patzer (Conservative)
“Madam Speaker, it is very clear that the Canadian economy runs on diesel. Highway 1 runs through my riding. I suspect it is not terribly far away from the member’s riding. When I drive down Highway 1, it takes two hours each and every time I go to the airport to fly out to Ottawa. The majority of the traffic is semi-trucks, which run on diesel. The previous motion we had before the House would have cut the price down, because we are about 24¢ to 31¢ higher than the world price on diesel. There is more the government could do to provide relief to Canadians and lower that price even further. Why will the Liberals not do it?”
