“Madam Speaker, I appreciate the member opposite’s speech, learning some more about farming in rural Saskatchewan. I found that really interesting, very much acknowledging that agriculture is a very difficult industry with very thin margins and a lot of uncertainty. There is uncertainty in commodity pricing for what is sold, but also uncertainty in inputs and uncertainty in weather. I have a lot of respect for farmers who, day in and day out, find a way to make ends meet and do the job that they care so passionately about. Of course, our government removed the consumer carbon tax, which is a permanent reduction in the cost of fuel. However, I do take issue with the presumption that it is the Government of Canada that is causing the global increase in diesel fuel prices. The United States’ war against Iran and the ongoing war by Russia against Ukraine are primarily the global cause of the increase in diesel pricing in Canada as they are in the United States and around the world. Will the member opposite acknowledge that?”

Reasoning · 10 wordsThat shows that there is something happening here in Canada. Claims · 58 wordsIt is things like the industrial carbon tax.3 This member talked about repealing the consumer carbon tax, which people paid at the pumps and was added on to all kinds of products that people could not see. It was baked into what they paid for food and things like that. There is more that the Liberals could do. Positioning · 4 wordsThey have hidden it.PositioningPartly on point Claims · 48 wordsThey have also added the Liberal fuel standards, 4which are driving up the cost of diesel and driving up the cost of production in this country. Those are things that the government controls. These are things that the government could repeal. It is not going to do it. Positioning · 35 wordsThe government even has a new Liberal member from Saskatchewan and all that he has managed to deliver in his time in office is scurvy to the people in northern Saskatchewan, 5which is absolutely ridiculous.Positioning Claims · 11 wordsThe current government could do more to provide relief for Canadians.
