Replying to Maxime Blanchette-Joncas (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, I commend my colleague on his speech. The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage did a study on the effects of influencers and social media on our daily lives. Recommendations were made, including taking into consideration the context in different parts of Canada, Quebec and in the different provinces. Protecting youth is a responsibility of Quebec and the provinces. Take for example how the ban on alcohol is enforced: it varies from place to place across Canada. If the government implements a ban, will it apply equally across Canada? I would like my colleague to elaborate on this point, particularly regarding the need to consult with Canada’s other legislatures as part of the process of drafting this legislation.”
