“Mr. Speaker, I would like to take this opportunity, following my colleague’s very apt remarks, to acknowledge the appointment of my predecessor and, in many respects, my mentor, Alain Therrien, the king himself. Mr. Therrien left an indelible mark on the Bloc Québécois, and I am sure he will do an outstanding job in Quebec City as treasury board president. I would also like to congratulate my friend Simon‑Pierre Savard‑Tremblay, who served alongside us until this past spring and who will now serve as the minister responsible for relations with the first nations and the Inuit. Finally, I congratulate the entire Parti Québécois caucus and all the newly appointed members of cabinet. We are really looking forward to working with them.”
