“Madam Speaker, I wish I had enough time to counter many of the things the member put on the record. Quite frankly, I am starting to believe that Conservatives do not understand or do not care. We could talk about procurements. Today, the member talked about speed, but I would add in the word efficiency. In 18 months, we can look at what the Prime Minister has accomplished. The F-35s are now on Canadian soil. There are so many things that, at the end of the day, members of the opposition do not recognize, like accountability. Crown corporations go to a minister. Members are allowed to hold them to account. Crown corporations go before a committee. We can hold them to account. Efficiency matters, and building Canada’s industrial military base also matters. This is something that a Crown corporation would be able to accomplish. The Conservatives need to get off their “we oppose everything the government does” ledge and start recognizing a good thing when it hits them in the face. Why will the member not support a Crown corporation?”
