“Madam Speaker, I think it is important to recognize that when we think of a Crown corporation, there is a very high level of accountability. We have Crown corporations that report to standing committees, for example. We have a minister responsible for the Crown corporation, who we can pose all sorts of questions to. There is a higher level of accountability, I would ultimately argue, and it is arm’s length. I have been a parliamentarian for over 30 years at the provincial and federal level, and Crown corporations at all levels of government have proven to be very successful. Having a military procurement corporation would be good for Canada’s military industrialization and our military. I will continue to articulate that. Would the member not agree that provincial corporations and other federal corporations can prove to be very effective?”
