Replying to Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal)
“Madam Speaker, my colleague made reference to the issue of dialing back. As an example, I think of Canada’s commitment, through the leadership of our Prime Minister, to bring our Canadian Forces spending up to 2% of GDP, which I think we achieved within seven months of being in government. Now we are looking at eventually increasing it to 5% of GDP. These are important sovereignty-related issues. These are expenditures that are really important for us as a nation. We hear the Conservatives talk as if they want investment in the Canadian Forces, but at the end of the day, it is questionable whether they even support that sort of an expenditure. What are my colleague’s thoughts on that?”
