Following a speech by John Brassard (Conservative)
“Mr. Speaker, there will be deficits this year of $59.3 billion, meaning that every single family in the country will be paying $6,000 toward the federal deficit. The government is adding $733 billion to the national debt. The least the Prime Minister can do, with all of his experience, all of his expertise and all of the things he claimed to be to Canadians, is to come to a committee of parliamentarians who are here representing the people of Canada, to be accountable and transparent, and to answer the question that parliamentarians, on behalf of Canadians, want to put before him. That is, why are we in this position when he said we would not be?”

In the last federal election, Canadians were very concerned about a wide spectrum of issues. They looked at what the leader of the Conservative Party had to offer and contrasted that to what the leader of the Liberal Party had to offer.
