“Mr. Speaker, to my colleague from Vancouver Island, this may seem out of the blue, but in my riding, some wonderful teachers who used to teach shop are really worried about the decline in access for young people to learn trades. They have an idea that I am working on, and I am asking about it in case other members are interested in working on it. Twenty-four Sussex Drive will need a major rebuild or renovation. The idea of this team of teachers is to get a team of youth from across Canada to rebuild the Prime Minister’s house, learning trades, being paid as they do it, living in Ottawa and making it truly a project of national interest. Does the hon. member for Nanaimo—Ladysmith think it might be a good idea?”
