Replying to Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal)
“Mr. Speaker, I will say at the outset, I am somewhat concerned about the manner in which the Conservative right today is trying to blame immigrants for problems. Back in 2012, unemployment amongst youth was over 14%. In 2025, it was under 14%. I do not recall, back in 2012, the opposition criticizing Stephen Harper, saying that immigrants were to blame. I am wondering if the member was in opposition back then. There were immigrants doing jobs and there were ample examples of youth trying to find jobs. Would the member have been so enthusiastic in trying to paint a negative image of immigrants? Let us think of the harm that is being caused, in terms of racial tension in our communities. It seems to me that we need to be fair in our explanation to the young people of Canada and also be fair to immigrants in terms of explaining the situation.”

Mr. Speaker, Positioning · 8 wordsthe disingenuousness of that member is actually disgusting.Insult Claims · 15 wordsI was very clear in my comments that this is not the fault of immigrants. Reasoning · 16 wordsI do not blame anyone for wanting to enjoy and embrace the bounty of this country. Claims · 14 wordsIt is the Liberal government that sets the numbers.1 This is a mathematical problem. Positioning · 34 wordsI get that the Liberals, with their record, are not particularly good at math, but that member should be ashamed of himself for trying to make this about race when it is about opportunity.Positioning Claims · 74 wordsIn fact, immigrants to this country who have done everything right are just as put out by this Liberal government’s record.2 They too are displaced. They too are facing the same issues in the job market that every single person is. This is not at all about immigrants. This is about the government that has allowed the TFW program to balloon into something where, by the way, even it acknowledges there was a problem.3 Positioning · 9 wordsI have no idea where this is coming from.PositioningOff point
