Replying to Gérard Deltell (Conservative)
“Mr. Speaker, I would like to begin by saying how much I appreciated the remarks made by my colleague from Montmorency—Charlevoix earlier in his speech. He touched on an important social challenge that concerns all of us. I have always said that we enter politics because of our parents and that we serve because of our children. The member captured the issue particularly well when he described teenagers coming home at 10 o’clock at night and heading straight to their rooms. Parents can see the light under the door, but they do not really know what is happening on the other side. I am no longer at the stage of life where I am raising children, but I am the grandfather of two little girls, aged four and six. I can honestly say that, throughout this debate, I have been thinking about them. What advice would my colleague offer the government on how to better equip parents to deal with the challenges posed by social media in the 21st century?”
