“Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for her excellent speech, which I really appreciated. She has two kids. I have four kids and three grandkids. We will be hearing about kids and grandkids all evening. I talk about this a lot because I am proud of it. I am 51 years old, and I had my first son when I was 20. That kind of thing is life-changing. My son is now 31 and has three children of his own, but things are different these days. The world has changed. When I was 20, we did not have tablets or cell phones. We did our best. When I look at him now with his three boys, I wonder how he handles all this, given everything that is currently happening on digital platforms. I have a question for my colleague. Does she believe that the government should help parents by supporting them, not by replacing them? At the end of the day, parents are the ones responsible for taking care of their children and making decisions about them every day. However, a responsible government can certainly support parents in raising their children. I would like to know: Does my colleague think the government should help parents?”
