“Mr. Speaker, it always good to listen to my friend from Whitby. I know that he has three young daughters. I only have one young daughter, and I am always worried about her. He has been talking about the worry he has. When we move forward with laws like this, how do they ensure that he and his daughters, and any future children he may have, are protected?”

Mr. Speaker, Procedure · 7 wordsas I said, we really want assurances.Procedure Claims · 170 wordsMy wife and I have had many conversations about how to keep our daughter safe online. We have found it challenging to keep her off these devices and platforms. Some of her friends have been exposed to intimate images, which they have been encouraged to share, and that has created problems in her friend group.Partly on point This bill would hold the social media platforms accountable.2 It would put in place a mechanism and a set of responsibilities that would ensure my daughter’s safety in the future.3
