“Mr. Speaker, I was glad to hear the parliamentary secretary acknowledge the drivers behind some of the increases in the consumer price index in this country, the CPI, but the reality is that the price of food continues to grow at an inflationary rate that exceeds the CPI. The government comes up with program after program, yet there is a lack of measurables, KPIs and clear targets they can be measured against. Given that in the parliamentary secretary’s own community demand has become so intense that last year there had to be incredible expansion in the number of slots, my question is this: How will these programs work, by how much and by when, and how will Canadians know that this billion-dollar fund actually lowered their costs?”
