Replying to Gabriel Ste-Marie (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate my colleague for her speech on this important bill. When the committee considered this matter, it adopted the following recommendation That the Government of Canada, in addressing the effects of influencers and social media on children and adolescents—and while recognizing the jurisdiction and primacy of the provinces in matters relating to social services and youth protection—adopt an asymmetrical and flexible approach. Does my colleague feel that the government has adopted a sufficiently asymmetrical and flexible approach with this bill in order to recognize provincial jurisdiction and precedence in social policy and youth protection? Has it sufficiently consulted Quebec and the provinces on this matter, particularly with regard to youth protection and the various social issues?”
