Replying to Gabriel Ste-Marie (Bloc Québécois)
“Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate my colleague on his speech. I would like to hear his views on whether Bill C-34 is flexible enough to allow the provinces to apply their own rules, based on their own interests. I would draw a parallel with the drinking age. We know that Quebec forms a nation, but there are differences even between the provinces, as in the example I gave, where laws and age restrictions can vary from one province to the next. Could the same apply to the issue we are talking about here, namely access to social media? Does Bill C‑34 provide enough flexibility?”
