“The Prime Minister has protected our workers and businesses from American trade threats and tariffs since the last election. We have given them a lot of financial support. Does the member agree it was important to act early instead of waiting until now?”
“Mr. Speaker, it is really clear that since the last federal election, the Prime Minister has been on top of the whole Trump, trade and tariff issue, recognizing that there are going to be serious impacts, and that is the reason that, from day one, the government has had the backs of workers, businesses and industries that have been and are going to be severely impacted. There has been a litany of support packages over the last number of months and general support as a whole. I am wondering if the member could provide his thoughts on why it was important that we not just wait until today but have been on top of this file since the last federal election.”
