“I want my colleague to talk more about why Canada must take its time to get the best trade deal with the United States. The government must focus on what is best for Canadians, our economy, and new trade opportunities.”
“Mr. Speaker, I am wondering if my colleague could provide some additions to her comments about getting a good deal with the United States, with a “good deal” being defined as what is in the best interest of Canadians. Whatever time it takes, it is absolutely critical that the government focus its attention on getting the best deal possible and that it is consistent with what has taken place over the last year. That has been a holistic approach, whether it is building one Canada, the major projects program or the number of initiatives the government has taken to date to build on Canada’s economy, to look at other opportunities to trade and to bring in additional investments. There is a litany of things that the government has done to build Canada strong, a strong country for all people. Could my colleague provide her thoughts on why it is so important to take that holistic approach and wait to get the best deal?”
