“Mr. Speaker, the member raises an issue that I know affects so many people. All members of Parliament are genuinely concerned about these unethical individuals, many living outside of Canada. With the modernization of technology of the Internet, phone scams, robocalls being made and vast numbers of emails, scams take many different forms. Unfortunately, it is quite often the vulnerable in society who are targeted, but it goes even beyond that. I am very familiar with a senior, Peter, who was defrauded of hundreds of thousands of dollars also.
