“I want this bill to pass. It creates an agency that will build thousands of affordable homes. The Conservatives oppose it, but their leader only built six non-profit homes when he was the housing minister.”

Mr. Speaker, the reality of the situation is that just over a year ago, Canadians elected a new Prime Minister and a new government. We came forward with a substantive piece of legislation to have more homes built here in Canada. The member tries to give a false impression, but I can tell him that Build Canada Homes will, in fact, build thousands and thousands of affordable homes. The Conservative Party’s position is, “Get out of the way. We do not need Build Canada Homes.” This is coming from an opposition party that is led by a leader who used to be the minister of housing and built six non-profit homes in that role. Why should we listen to the Conservative Party?
