“I support more money for ferries in British Columbia. Still, the federal government mostly funds ferries that travel between provinces. We have already helped British Columbia with over $700 million to buy new ferries, which is more than Marine Atlantic gets.”

Mr. Speaker, I will always support more funding going to our ferry system in British Columbia, but I think we need to remember that one is an interprovincial system and one is an intraprovincial system. There is federal jurisdiction to go in between provinces, and there have been significant investments in buying new ferries in the last couple of years. That works out to a benefit of over $700 million, which is actually more than Marine Atlantic is getting for its infrastructure. I think those things need to be kept in mind, but I will always support more money to make sure that we have a better ferry service in British Columbia.
