Blaine Calkins Conservative
“Conservatives warned the Liberals for ten years that their laws on pipelines, tankers, deficits, and crime would hurt Canada. Everything we warned about happened. Now the Liberals are supporting this bill and running away from their past votes. They are hypocrites who say anything to get votes.”
“Mr. Speaker, for the last 10 years, I have sat in the House and warned the Liberals about everything they were going to do. We as Conservatives all warned them what would happen if they passed the “no more pipelines” bill and they passed the legislation on the tanker ban. We warned them what would happen if they ran continuous deficits. We warned them what would happen if they weakened our justice system. All the things we said would come to pass have come to pass. Now they are eating themselves whole trying to run away from the agenda they were just voting for during three parliaments prior to this one. The hypocrisy is astounding. My colleague from Edmonton West is absolutely right. The same members who are right now arguing in favour of this bill were saying the exact opposite about the very same issues in previous parliaments for 10 years. I think Canadians are waking up to the reality that the government is all talk and no action. The Liberals do not mean the things they say. They will say anything to anyone anywhere as long as they get their votes. That is how the members across the room operate.”
