“The government takes the high cost of living seriously. We need to help people now, but we also need to invest in new projects and grow our markets for the future. Can the member explain why balancing both is so important?”
“Mr. Speaker, I appreciate my colleague’s comments on the opposition day motion, and my question is related to both the short term and the long term. He made reference to the issue of affordability, which is something the government takes very seriously. The Prime Minister has talked about it virtually since the last federal election, and this is a major aspect of it. Also, we have to think in terms of the long term. My colleague referred to a number of investments and potential projects, with some that are actually being developed today. I wonder if he could provide his thoughts as to why it is really important that we look at both sides, the importance of affordability along with the expansion of our markets.”
