“The Prime Minister promised to buy Canadian, but he broke that promise. In his first 16 months, his government gave $7.8 billion in contracts to American companies. That is a 55 percent increase. Our tax dollars should support Canadian workers, not go to the United States.”
“Mr. Speaker, the Toronto Star has revealed that the Prime Minister’s buy Canadian promise was a complete sham. After the Prime Minister walked away from trade negotiations with the U.S., he claimed that his government would be Canada’s own best customer, yet within the Prime Minister’s first 16 months in office, the Liberals increased Canada’s reliance on American suppliers. In fact, they awarded $7.8 billion in contracts to American-owned companies. This represents a 55% increase going to U.S.-controlled companies under the Prime Minister. While Canadian workers are suffering from unjustified tariffs, the Prime Minister and his Liberals are shopping south of the border with our tax dollars. Canadians deserve a government that will put Canada first, not one that sends our tax dollars south in the hope that no one will notice. The next time the Prime Minister says he is buying Canadian, do not be fooled.”
