“We have taken real steps to make life more affordable. We sent grocery benefits to families, gave businesses tax deductions to invest and grow, and paused the fuel tax. I want the Conservatives to support this bill so we can keep the fuel tax pause in place.”
“Madam Speaker, I am glad to get the member opposite’s question, which I always appreciate. Our government has done a lot of things to make life more affordable for Canadians. We have, as I said in my speech, launched the Canada groceries and essentials benefit. The third instalment of those cheques went out just yesterday. That is $1,890 for a family of four to help make life a bit more affordable. We also just moved forward with announcing the productivity mega deduction, which is a measure that I am sure the Conservatives would support because of its immediate expensing. It is really generous tax deductions for new business investment that will enhance productivity in Canada and will support every one of our industries, including our agriculture and manufacturing industries, all across the country. We also suspended the fuel excise tax and are now extending it. I hope the members opposite will support this.”
