Madam Speaker, in another aspect of the member’s speech, he downplayed the importance of the national school food program. I was first elected in 1988 when Sharon Carstairs was the leader of the Liberal Party in Manitoba. She advocated that a child cannot learn on an empty stomach. For generations, there have been many children in society who have not been able to learn on a full stomach or who have not had food in their tummy during the school day. The need is very real. It is there. It has been there for decades. However, the Conservatives are saying that they do not care about that aspect of education, that those children do not deserve to have food in their tummy when it comes to education. To try to give the false impression that this issue has only been generated in the last 10 or 15 years is just wrong. Will the member admit he is wrong and maybe reverse the Conservative policy?
