“We need this bill to help us build major projects faster. We are in a trade dispute with our biggest partner, so we must find new trade partners instead of relying on just one.”
“Mr. Speaker, of course, we have to add lobster to our menus also. It is important to remember the context in which the government is bringing this bill forward. We are in a trade war with our largest trade partner, which we did not see, but we cannot back away from it. We need to diversify our economy with new investments and trading partners. I heard from the businesses in my riding in the summer that we need to diversify our trade, and having all our eggs in one basket is not how we build a stronger Canada for future generations. That is why it is really important that we build faster and make sure that projects of national interest get built quicker.”
