“The member opposite is unfairly criticizing the government. When the Conservatives were in power, they limited debate on bills too. Our government is actually working with the provinces to build major projects. The member should rethink what she said.”
“Madam Speaker, I too, like the member opposite, listened to the inspirational speech that the Prime Minister gave back in January to the world. I think Canadians as a whole were very proud of that particular speech. However, to try to draw a comparison, as the member is trying to do, to ridicule the government and its actions is ridiculous, quite frankly. I think it does a disservice. At the end of the day, the member can say whatever she wants and be as critical as she wants, but I can assure her that when I sat in opposition and listened to Stephen Harper bring through legislation, the Conservatives would actually introduce legislation along with a motion for time allocation. What a gross exaggeration is taking place on the other end, when we have a Prime Minister and a government that have been working collaboratively with provinces and jurisdictions and stakeholders to build Canada strong through major projects and so much more. I think the member needs to reflect on her speech. It was far from what took place last January in Switzerland.”
