Discussion · Government Orders
Mario Simard Bloc Québécois
“The government should not spend public money on oil and gas projects. These companies are making record profits while regular people are struggling to pay for housing, food, and medicine.”
“Madam Speaker, I was actually saying that I am coming around on the Leader of the Opposition. I do not think that the Conservatives are opposed to developing the oil and gas sector; far from it. However, they must be clear-eyed enough to see that it is not right for us, collectively, to take on infrastructure risks when the oil and gas companies are making record profits. In July, Cenovus posted profits four times higher than in 2025. These people are making record profits, yet our project of national interest is supposed to help them make even more profits at a time when regular folks are struggling to find housing and seniors sometimes have to choose between medication and food. I think that is completely despicable.”
