“I want this bill passed. There are 38 communities waiting for clean water, including Kashechewan, which had to evacuate this year because its water system broke down. We worked with these communities on this law so children can drink safe water from their taps.”

Madam Speaker, I want to remind my colleague that, while he speaks of big, shiny announcements, there are 38 communities waiting for this work to be done, such as Kashechewan, which this year had to evacuate because of major infiltration in its water system. There are communities hoping to do this work, and they need this valuable resource. We are working on this law in partnership with those very communities. They are waiting for the resource to be sure that their members, the children who play on their streets, can go home, turn on the tap and drink a glass of water. That is what is important. That is what we are delivering with the work we have done here.
