“I want to know why the government dropped its first defence bill to replace it with this new one. Switching bills so quickly makes it look like the Liberals are just making things up as they go.”
“Mr. Speaker, I did not get an answer earlier from the parliamentary secretary to the government House leader, so I will ask my colleague opposite the same question about Bill C-31 and Bill C-40. The Liberals were trying to create something with Bill C‑31, which we are still debating, but it will likely end up being scrapped because they are replacing it with Bill C‑40. Why did the government change its mind about something that was supposed to be such a good idea? With the Liberals switching so quickly from Bill C‑31 to Bill C‑40, does it not seem like they are just winging it?”
