“We always planned to turn our temporary defence agency into a Crown corporation. Countries like the United Kingdom, Australia, Turkey, and Sweden already do this successfully. Our military needs modern tools quickly because technology changes fast. A Crown corporation will get our troops what they need.”
“Mr. Speaker, the Defence Investment Agency was always intended to be a temporary measure. The goal was always to create a Crown corporation. That is what we are doing now. The benefits have been clearly demonstrated in other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Turkey and Sweden. They have models very similar to what our government is proposing today. The rationale has always been this: It is absolutely essential to provide our military personnel with the capabilities they need as soon as possible, given the technological changes we are seeing on a daily basis. A Crown corporation will do exactly that.”
