“Mr. Speaker, I appreciate many of the words, especially the tributes by our members making reference to the disaster that took place in Wainwright. I wonder if the minister can just provide his thoughts. From the last federal election, with our new Prime Minister and 70-plus new members of Parliament, one of the highest priorities was to deal with the Canadian Forces. It is one of the reasons we saw the substantial increase, meeting the 2% GDP. It is one of the reasons we saw raises going to our military personnel and so many investments. This piece of legislation is just a continuation of commitments to our Canadian Forces and the Canadian economy as a whole, that military industrial component in Canada that provides thousands of jobs.”
