“We are making progress on buying military equipment. We are negotiating to buy up to 12 submarines, which could support 100,000 jobs. We also partnered with General Dynamics to support thousands of jobs, and we invested $11 billion in icebreakers using over 1,500 Canadian suppliers.”

Mr. Speaker, we know that procurement is ongoing, and I will not speak to the status of that in this moment, but I will point to some recent successes. We are negotiating for up to 12 submarines currently, which would potentially be supporting up to 100,000 Canadian jobs. We have a strategic partner with General Dynamics that is supporting thousands of jobs in London and across the country. We have seen an $11-billion investment in the Davie icebreaker, which is involving more than 1,500 Canadian suppliers. This is evidence of the progress that we are making as we move forward.
