“The Conservatives only care about cutting taxes. If they get their way, they will cut programs like free school food, dental care, and medicine. Our government also cuts taxes, but we protect the programs people need.”
“Madam Speaker, that is a good question. I think there would be some programs that would instantly be on the chopping block, such as, unfortunately, the national school food program, which helps 400,000 children. The dental care program would be another one on the chopping block. The Conservatives have made that very clear. They have also shown no support for the Canada pharmacare program in dealing with issues like diabetes, which is a very serious thing. There are numerous programs that the government provides to provide support to Canadians. Unfortunately, we do not hear that coming from the Conservative Party, because they are preoccupied with one subject matter, and that is tax cut after tax cut, and they are not even consistent with that. We, too, support tax cuts. Under the Prime Minister , we gave an income tax cut, and 22 million Canadians benefited. The excise tax is a suspension. The carbon tax was permanent.”
