“Energy projects protect our national security. China uses trade as a weapon, and other countries are building energy facilities quickly. Canada is not keeping up, and we need the infrastructure to get our resources to market.”
Official Hansard

Madam Speaker, I appreciate my colleague’s commentary a great deal, as well as the great work he does on behalf of his constituents every single day. Energy infrastructure is critical to our national security. This is a world in which commerce has been weaponized by Beijing and in which our supply chains, our investment, our technology and our energy are all interwoven together. How those supply chains stabilize international markets and unleash productivity in this country is critical. We actually need the infrastructure to get our resources to market. We have watched our rivals around the world, and even our partners, proceed at incredible speed. We have watched massive energy production facilities emerging in Beijing and around China. We have watched the world respond to that, with refineries and plant capacity out of the United States and with terminals in Germany to be able to take LNG. We have seen massive undertakings in the last number of years, but in Canada, we have not been moving at the same pace.
