“Conservatives have a plan to bring fast relief by permanently removing the industrial carbon tax. The Liberals only lowered the consumer carbon tax to zero because we pressured them to do it, and they take credit for it. They did not cancel it completely, and it could come back.”
“Mr. Speaker, Conservatives have been very clear. We have an economic action plan that would bring relief immediately. One of the major parts of that plan is permanently removing the industrial carbon tax. It is funny to watch the Liberals jump up and down and say how excited and wonderful they are because they cancelled the consumer carbon tax. Meanwhile, the same group of people jumped up and down asking how we dared to suggest that they cancel the consumer carbon tax. They did it because our pressure was effective, and now they are asking, “Are we not wonderful?” It is a crazy world we live in right now in Canada where the Liberals take credit for things that Conservatives have said we must do. Hopefully they will do the same thing with the industrial carbon tax one day, but we should never forget that they did not actually cancel the consumer carbon tax. I will just wait. They have only reduced it to zero, as far as I know. They have not cancelled it completely. I suspect we will see a version of it, and we already have in some ways at the gas pump.”
