“People in British Columbia have the same fuel problems as people across the country. Truckers cannot afford their gas, monthly payments, or savings for their families. I want the other parties to join us in talking about this.”
“Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my hon. colleague for her fantastic work and her advocacy across her area and across the nation as well. Before I answer the question, I want to let the member know that, yes, we in B.C. have the same problems they have in Ontario and across the nation. Many of our truckers are dealing with the same crisis. They are going about their day-to-day life not able to afford the simple things they should be able to afford. Their second and third fill-ups are so exhausting that they go home and are not able to have their dollar carry through the month to afford the payments they need to make, to carry some relief and to make sure they have some savings for their family and kids. This is the same issue I know the member is dealing with, and across the nation, many of the members on this side of the House are dealing with this as well. I am eager to see what the members on the opposing side have to say about this, because I know their constituents are feeling the same pain. I thank the member for her advocacy and her work. I wish the members opposing could join us as well.”
