“The government said it urgently needed to give $600 million to Canada's cultural sector after cutting taxes on big tech companies. Almost 18 months have passed, and no one has received any of that money. I want to know why this money has not been paid out.”
“Madam Speaker, I would like to commend my colleague for his excellent French in answering questions today. However, my colleague’s response was somewhat inconsistent. He said that when his government abolished the levies imposed on the web giants, there was an urgent need to provide the cultural sector with the $600 million in question. However, here we are, nearly 18 months later, and, to the best of my knowledge, not a single player in Canada’s cultural sector has received any of those funds. How can he say it is urgent to provide this money when no one has seen a penny to date? Was this yet another empty promise from the Liberals?”
