“Canadian taxpayers will end up paying the $600 million being talked about. I want to know if my colleague agrees with making big American tech companies pay fees instead.”
“Madam Speaker, my colleague pointed to the Prime Minister’s lack of resolve in dealing with the U.S. giants, claiming at the time that the issue was one of affordability. However, the $600 million in question ultimately comes out of taxpayers’ pockets. Does my colleague agree with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s solution of imposing levies on billion-dollar U.S. digital platforms?”
