Discussion · Government Orders
Marie-Hélène Gaudreau Bloc Québécois
“The government says culture is important, but it has done nothing. It still has not spent the $600 million it promised, and it is ignoring broadcasting laws. I want us to sound the alarm on this.”
“Mr. Speaker, I would like to make a comment and hear my colleague’s thoughts on it. Earlier, in my speech, I said that the economy and culture go hand in hand. I hear the government saying that culture is important and needs to be promoted, and it certainly seems to be congratulating itself, but is it actually doing anything concrete? We have to use this opposition day to sound the alarm and to point out that the $600 million has yet to materialize and the government is ignoring the Broadcasting Act. Is my colleague as discouraged as I am? It is time to get out of here.”
